I am a Washington transplant after living in North Carolina for eight years. I completed my Bachelors in Psychology from Florida State University (Go Noles!). While completing my studies, I was actively involved in the Lang Alcohol Studies Lab as a directed independent study student for over two years. I also found myself volunteering for Thagard Student Health Promotions, assisting on harm reduction outreach and training for sexual health and drug/alcohol use. These experiences launched me on the path to the helping profession. I found that counseling and working with people did not have to be a one-dimensional experience but one that can be creative, engaging and rewarding for everyone involved.
I completed my Master’s Degree in Substance Abuse and Clinical Counseling at East Carolina University. During my studies, I gained valuable experience completing my practicum (40 hr) and internship (600 hr) at Walter B Jones ADATC and summer vocational rehabilitation internships at East Carolina Vocational Center (ECVC) and Navigate Counseling Center.
Upon graduation, I gained experience working with mental health, substance abuse and dual diagnosis clients across a variety of counseling platforms (individual, group, small group, SAIOP, SACOT, DBT groups). Throughout my time in the field, I have transitioned over to working mainly with those in the realm of mental health. I find this field one of the most exciting and most rewarding careers and am grateful everyday to be a small piece of it.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) through the state of Washington. I gained additional post-graduate training in Teen Triple P, Non-Suicidal Self-Injury 101 from Cornell University and intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through Behavioral Tech. I am currently working with adults, providing a welcoming environment that promotes change, validation and empowerment. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, coffee and spending time with my family.
